Te Taiwhenua o Heretaunga is an active sponsor of our community and events held within Heretaunga. There are two types of sponsorship – Individual and Event.
Individual
Individual sponsorships encourage and recognise the pursuit of
excellence undertaken by Ngāti Kahungunu ki Heretaunga members in
Cultural, Sporting and Academic pursuits as they are an important
aspect of personal, whānau, Hapū and Iwi development.
Event
Event sponsorships provide tautoko (support) for events that
promote culture, sports, health and/ or education within the
Heretaunga rohe, or events undertaken for the benefit of Ngāti
Kahungunu ki Heretaunga members.

2011 Sponsorship Recipient - Aaliyah Ah Kiong
Aaliyah Ah Kiong represented New Zealand in the Australian U16's State Championship in Victoria this year. Although competing in the Australian State Champs was tough, through speed and skill the New Zealand team made history and was placed 4th out of 14 teams.
2011 Sponsorship Recipient - Hemi Manaena
In July, Hemi Manaena was awarded a Grand Priors award by St John New Zealand and the Governor General. This was a memorable event for the young cadet where he attributes his success to adhering to the inspiration and guidance of the older seniors and the vision of the St John organisation.
