As Te Taiwhenua o Heretaunga we have been an Incorporated Society since 1988 and attained charitable status in November 1995, and as such provides benefits to the community by means of services, education, facilities, scholarships, sponsorships and koha.
Te Taiwhenua o Heretaunga is the local Māori authority for
Heretaunga and surrounding district and has fifteen (15) mandated
representatives from local Marae/ Hapū and Maata Waka on the Te
Haaro Board of Trustees.
Heretaunga Park Community Centre is a complex comprised of a
large multipurpose building and two smaller adjacent
buildings. The multipurpose building that houses Te Taiwhenua
o Heretaunga is called Te Maioha and was named by local Kaumatua as
were all the public rooms within Te Maioha.

We must all ascend to the heights reached by the hawk on
occasion to make sure we are heading in the right direction, to
remind ourselves of where we are going, and why we are doing what
we are doing, before descending again to chip away at making an
impact on our terrestrial world.
